just got home. . .or just left home

We had a really great trip to Utah- the kids and I were there for nearly a month, with Brian joining us for the last week.  When I first got to Utah I felt like I was just visiting, with my little house in Oregon waiting back home for me.  When I left Utah, I felt the opposite.  I felt like I was leaving home.  It's kind of funny how my feelings changed.  This was especially weird because we are kind of at that point where we're wondering where we want to live after school.  Here or there?  Or somewhere else?  Basically, I'm not any closer to sorting out my feelings on that matter.  I love Utah.  I love being so close to family.  And the cousins?  Oh the cousins are a huge draw.  But I'm just not sure we're done with Oregon yet.  I guess a job offer will help us decide.

Anyway, all the bags are unpacked, the laundry is finally done and the fridge is bursting with fresh fruit and veggies from Costco and other good stuff.  The house is tidy, but dirty after a month of neglect, and there are rings around all my toilets.  There's still a lot to do.  Also, it's unfortunate that I got home and discovered that every drawer, cupboard, closet and just all areas in general need some serious organizing.  Not really sure how that crept up on me, but all I kept thinking when I got home was, "How did I live here without this bugging me?"  I have lots of work to do...

Brian is back to it again- it's his first day in a new hospital in Clackamas called Sunnyside.  Doesn't that sound pleasant?  But then I think about the daycare in Toy Story 3 and I think maybe the name could be deceiving.

I have a million posts to do.  Lots of catching up.  I've missed my old blog, but actually it was kind of nice to just let it go and be on vacation.  I can see how if you stop for a little while it can easily turn into a long while.  But here I am!  I'm back.  Stay tuned...

Oh, and by the way, if you were wondering if it's summer here in Portland, it's not.  Didn't miss these clouds much, but they're still sticking around.  I guess the added humidity is something exciting and new.

p.s.  I hate my hair in humidity.

a champion

The t-shirt's a little smaller.
The name tag is no longer necessary.
The look isn't quite as innocent.
The smile's a little forced.
But I still see a Wee Wisdom Champion.

We sure loved our time at Wee Wisdom with Mrs. Boyd.  The first year I didn't quite understand her, but this last year I grew to love and appreciate every single thing she did at this little school.  McKay is lucky to have had her as a teacher.

I think this year he knew he would get the trophy reserved only for the kids that were champions all year round.  Last year, he really wondered if he was a champion.  This year he already knew.  We're sure proud of him and the great kid that he is.  I feel so blessed to be his mom.  I really love him.
